Event Description

The Corto Circuito Showcase is a slice of the best films presented at the 4th Annual Corto Circuito Latino Short Film Festival of New York.

Presented by Diana Vargas, the festival's director, The Corto Circuito Showcase will highlight  seven of the most acclaimed short films from Latin America.

Roberto (43) and Carmen (14) have been on the run for two days, escaping from their lives. An improvised trip, almost with no money nor shelter. The police chases them. The last day of the trip will be decisive. Inspired by a real fact.

Roberto, de 34 años, y Carmen, de 14, llevan dos días huyendo. Ellos escapan de sus vidas respectivas. Se trata de un viaje improvisado, casi sin dinero y sin refugio. La policía los persigue. El último día del viaje será decisivo. La historia está basada en hechos reales.

At the Fringues Fashion Shop what counts is the arrival of the new fashion collection and the satisfaction of the clients. In the middle of the sales madness, a window mannequin observes the coming and going of the clients.  She wants to be like them. Soon, she realizes that the difference between her and the others “It’s what you wear”.

En la tienda de ropa Fashion Store, lo único que cuenta es el lanzamiento de la nueva colección y la satisfacción de la clientele. En medio de todo, un maniquí observa con impotencia el vaivén de los clients. Quisera ser humana como las otras. Pronto se da cuenta que ser diferente es difícil de llevar y que “todo es cuestión de trapos”.

En Colombia, entre abuelos, padres y nietos, jugamos a creer que si uno come las semillas de una naranja, un naranjo crecerá en nuestro cuerpo. Pero durante la niñez, creemos que esto un día sucederá de verdad…

M’APPELLE

An apple falls into the earth and discovers life. When the apple sees itself as an individual, it starts to notice others. Good and bad. Cause and consequence, etc, etc, and other natural facts that the flesh has inherited. All of these experiences transform the apple. Somehow, it feels as it lost its center.

Una manzana cae a la tierra y descubre la vida. Al reconocerse a sí misma como individuo, aprende a tratar con otros. Mal y bien, causa y efecto y los miles de choques naturales que la carne ha heredado. Todas estas experiencias causan transformaciones hasta que la manzana pierde su centro de identidad.

Before and After Kissing Maria narrates from the point of view of Raul, a 9 yr. old child from a small village in the Spanish countryside, his adventures to kiss Maria, his 12 year old cousin, who, like every summer, has come to the village to spend her holidays.

Narra desde el punto de vista de Raúl, un niño de 9 años de un pueblecito del norte de Castilla, sus peripecias para conseguir dar un beso a María, su prima de 12 años, que como cada vernano, ha llegado al pueblo a pasar unos días de vacaciones.
